Contacts between Iran and the US and the management of the Strait of Hormuz
In the shadow of ongoing regional tensions, a senior Iranian delegation led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Oman for urgent talks. According to the 'Akharin Khabar' channel, this visit was intended to determine the method of managing the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran emphasizing that "the conditions of the Strait of Hormuz will not return to the pre-war state" and that management is under the sole authority of Iran and Oman.
Simultaneously, Tehran emphasizes that the implementation of the "five clauses of the memorandum of understanding" is a prerequisite for discussions on the nuclear issue. According to 'IRNA News Agency', which is affiliated with the Iranian government, no detailed discussion on the nuclear issue or the removal of sanctions has taken place so far. Conversely, Mike Waltz, the US Ambassador to the UN, claimed on 'Iran International' – a channel presenting a critical line toward the Iranian regime – that Iran has agreed to return inspectors as a "first step" in a broader process, adding that the US demands close supervision "anytime, anywhere."
Political contacts between Israel and Lebanon
A fifth round of talks between Israel and Lebanon under American mediation is expected to open in Washington. According to reports from 'Fars International and Foreign Policy', the channel affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, the talks are taking place under threats from Netanyahu, and the Hezbollah organization condemns their very existence as a "shame." The channel notes that these are political and military-level talks aimed at promoting a security agreement, while Deutsche Welle in Persian emphasizes that it is an effort to create a space for dialogue between two countries that are officially in a state of war.
