According to a report by Україна Online: Новини | Політика, a channel that reports continuously on news and politics in Ukraine, a significant astronomical event is expected to take place on August 12, 2026: the first "total solar eclipse" in Europe since 1999. According to the NASA announcement mentioned on the channel, parts of Iceland, Spain, and Portugal will experience total darkness in the middle of the day. In Ukraine, the eclipse will be partial, with residents of the west of the country, especially Lviv and Uzhhorod, able to witness a coverage of almost half of the solar disk around 20:45.

On the local level in Kyiv, the Київ Головне channel, which focuses on current news from the capital, reports that today the weather in the capital is hot and sunny, with temperatures ranging between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius.

At the same time, the UA Stream channel notes that "the heat is fading" and that during the coming week, residents of Kyiv can expect to enjoy pleasant weather, with no forecast for significant precipitation in the coming days.
