Wave of counter-activity by the SBU across Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported today on significant successes in thwarting hostile activities against the state. At the center of the events, a terrorist attack was prevented in the heart of Kyiv: two suspects, including a soldier who deserted from his service (AWOL), were arrested while attempting to flee to Belarus after placing an improvised explosive device near an administrative building and adjacent to the KPI University, according to Times of Ukraine and Реальна Війна.

According to a report by Політика.ua, the two were recruited by individuals who presented themselves as FSB agents, who promised them "amnesty" in exchange for carrying out sabotage actions. The suspects were caught wearing military uniforms while attempting to cross the border illegally, as reported by Київ Головне and ХК Київ.

Simultaneously, the SBU announced the exposure of a network of eight online agitators who operated in various regions, including Kyiv, Sumy, Dnipro, and Kryvyi Rih. The suspects are accused of spreading pro-Russian propaganda, justifying war crimes, and calling for nuclear strikes on cities in Ukraine. Дניпро Оперативний detailed that one of the detainees in Dnipro called for a government coup and supported Russia's acts of aggression.

The detainees face a series of serious criminal charges, including treason, sabotage of war efforts, and war propaganda, with maximum penalties reaching up to 10 years in prison and even life imprisonment in the case of the Kyiv attack, as noted in Реальна Війна. These actions highlight the ongoing effort by the authorities in Ukraine to eradicate internal sabotage activities directed by Russia.
