Israeli leadership outlines a firm security policy towards Lebanon and Iran
In a series of statements delivered on June 21, 2026, senior Israeli leadership presented a firm stance regarding the campaign in Lebanon and policy towards Iran. According to reports by the channel gdh, which is identified with positions critical of Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that Israel has established a "security zone" in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, and that it intends to hold it for as long as necessary to ensure its security.
Defense Minister Israel Katz reinforced these remarks and declared that the IDF will not withdraw from the security zone in southern Lebanon. For his part, Netanyahu clarified that he intends to pursue an agreement with Lebanon only after the elimination of Hezbollah's capabilities, and noted regarding Iran that "as long as I am Prime Minister of Israel, we will not allow Iran to arm itself with nuclear weapons."
On the other hand, Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir expressed an even more hawkish position. According to gdh, Ben-Gvir rejected the distinction between the State of Lebanon and the Hezbollah organization, arguing that "all of Lebanon should be our target." In addition, he called for the adoption of a policy of incessant bombing against Iran and Hezbollah, and argued that "there is no point in making agreements with the Iranians."
Meanwhile, Syrian President Ahmed Shara addressed the regional situation and noted that despite the deep conflict with Hezbollah, he strives to prevent the collapse of Lebanon. The Turkish channel Daily Islamist, which consistently criticizes Israeli policy, also covered Minister Ben-Gvir's remarks, while emphasizing the extremism in his statements regarding direct military activity in Lebanon and Iran.
