The Kremlin declares: 'The Spirit of Anchorage is dead, we are turning towards victory'

During a significant statement published on June 21, 2026, Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov declared that Russia no longer expects the implementation of the agreements previously reached in Anchorage (August 2025). According to Ushakov, as reported in Мир сегодня с "Юрий Подоляка", "one of the parties was unable to comply with the agreements," and therefore Russia is shifting the focus from diplomatic efforts to pursuing a total military victory on the ground.

The Russian establishment, represented by channels such as ТАСС and Операция Z: Военкоры Русской Весны, has presented a unified position that the West misled Moscow and does not constitute a reliable partner. Pro-Kremlin oriented channels, such as Старше Эдды, emphasized that "the Spirit of Anchorage has evaporated" and that this is an important lesson in dealing with the West, while calling for an end to hopes for compromise settlements.

Ushakov further warned that "Western countries need to analyze the situation on the battlefield well," where he claimed that Russian forces continue to advance. The official position in Moscow now is that any Western attempt to bring about Russia's defeat is a "strategic mistake," and that the only goal before the Kremlin is achieving war objectives through military means.
