Attack and power disruptions in Sevastopol

The city of Sevastopol experienced a large-scale drone attack today, which led to the activation of air defense systems and severe disruptions in electricity supply. According to the Russian-appointed Governor, Mikhail Razvozhaev, a schedule for planned power cuts was implemented in the city, in order to "prevent overloading of power grids outside of Sevastopol."

The Telegram channel "Crimean Wind" reported that large parts of the Crimean Peninsula were left without electricity as a result of damage to infrastructure. According to the channel, which is identified with opposition to the Russian occupation, mobile gas-turbine power units were deployed to compensate for the energy shortage, and that these are legitimate military targets as they serve the Russian army.

Russian sources such as Colonelcassad stated later that "the overload on the power grids has been resolved" and operations to restore regular electricity supply to residents have begun. At the same time, channels identified with the administration, such as the "Signal" channel, also reported short power outages in the Zaporizhzhia region, while further reports from "Govorit Moskva" noted that four people were killed and 28 were injured in a separate attack in the Kerch Peninsula area.

There is a dispute in the interpretation of events: while official sources speak of technical overload, critical and anti-establishment channels, including Zone AP, claim that this is a significant Ukrainian success in damaging Russian energy infrastructure, and that the official claims are intended to obscure the extent of the strategic damage caused as a result of the attacks.
