[92466] Concern in the international community: Israel's activity in Lebanon threatens the peace agreement between the US and Iran
Rising tension: Does the campaign in Lebanon endanger the US-Iran agreement?
According to reports by NBC News, American intelligence agencies estimate that the widespread strikes by the IDF in Lebanon pose a "direct threat to the peace agreement" between Washington and Tehran. While Hezbollah and Israel declared a ceasefire, sources identified with Hezbollah claim that while the organization is maintaining the agreement, Israel continues to fire and is even trying to advance forces deep into Lebanese territory.
Operational activity and intelligence concerns
Reports from several media channels, including the Telegram channel of the Lebanese news network and FarsiOfficialX, indicate that the IDF struck over 100 targets in Southern Lebanon. Conversely, the politicscafe channel, citing the New York Times, notes that the American intelligence community is expressing deep doubt regarding Israel's commitment to the ceasefire, out of an assessment that the Israeli side will not cease its military activity.
International mediation and diplomatic efforts
At the same time, The Washington Post reports that Pakistan is involved in intensive talks with Tehran and Washington in an effort to prevent the "disintegration of the peace process." However, the FarsNewsInt channel, which is identified with the official Iranian line, accuses the US of failing to uphold its obligations under the ceasefire clause in Lebanon.
The Israeli perspective
On the other hand, the Iranian news agency IRNA brings quotes from Israeli media outlets, among them the "Walla" website, which claim that the Israeli intelligence system erred in its initial assessment regarding the failure of the peace process between the US and Iran, which indicates a gap between intelligence forecasts and the political reality on the ground.
