Severe Escalation in Southern Lebanon: Death and Injuries Among IDF Forces Near the Litani River
A difficult day of fighting in Southern Lebanon, during which various sources report unusual clashes between IDF forces and Hezbollah operatives. According to Al Jazeera, IDF forces attempted to advance in the Kafr Tibnit and Tall Ali Tahir area, which led to fierce battles.
The IDF Spokesperson confirmed that during operational activity in the Litani River area, near the village of At-Tayyibeh, Sergeant Major (res.) Alexander Vilan, a fighter in the 36th Division headquarters, was killed. As reported by War Media - News Coverage, which is affiliated with resistance channels, the explosion was caused by an explosive device detonated against a force that also included fighters from the 556th Battalion and the Givati Brigade. Seven other fighters were wounded in the incident, including senior officers.
In Quds News Network, which reports from a perspective hostile to Israel, it was emphasized that Hezbollah is using "rocket and mortar barrages" and that the organization describes the campaign as part of "Ashura operations" against ceasefire violations. Furthermore, it was claimed that this was a "hunt for senior officers" inside Lebanese territory.
Channels affiliated with Hezbollah, such as Resistance Path {South Lebanon}, reported the destruction of a Merkava tank near Kafr Tibnit and noted that "the area will remain impassable" to IDF forces. At the same time, reports were made of Israeli airstrikes and the use of "phosphorus bombs and incendiary means" in the Ali Tahir area.
Despite reports of understandings mediated by the U.S. and Iran, the situation on the ground remains very tense. In Al Mayadeen Channel | Urgent, which is identified with the Axis of Resistance, the events were described as proof that the fighting has not ceased and that Israeli violations continue at high intensity.
