[88747] Court sentences blogger Alexandra Mitroshina to a suspended prison term
Sentencing of blogger Alexandra Mitroshina
A Moscow court sentenced popular blogger Alexandra Mitroshina (known as the "Mother of Bloggers") today, June 18, 2026, to a three-year suspended prison term, according to multiple channels including Раньше всех. Ну почти. and Readovka. Mitroshina was convicted under the article for money laundering (Article 174.1 of the Russian Criminal Code) after the prosecution alleged she evaded 127 million rubles in taxes and used part of that sum to purchase real estate in Moscow.
In addition to the suspended sentence, Mitroshina was fined 900,000 rubles and ordered to forfeit property worth approximately 115 million rubles to the state. According to a report by Mash, the blogger broke down in tears during the sentencing as she had prepared herself for the possibility of actual prison time, following the prosecution's initial demand for three years in a penal colony.
The Baza channel noted that the background of the case began with an audit by the Russian Federal Tax Service (FNS), which found that Mitroshina had split her businesses to avoid tax payments. Although she initially paid off her debts, the case evolved into additional criminal charges for money laundering after she returned from the UAE and was detained at Sochi Airport in March 2025. In court, Mitroshina argued, as quoted in КОНТЕКСТ, that "there was no criminal intent" and that she invested the funds in real estate for personal use.
While most reports focused on the legal facts, various sources expressed conflicting opinions regarding the leniency of the sentence. The Telegram channel "Только никому..." described Mitroshina as "lucky" compared to other influencers in the field. Conversely, critical channels such as Феноменология левого кринжа ☭ questioned the "injustice" in comparison to other criminal cases in Russia during the war, drawing parallels to harsh sentences imposed in other instances.
