Capital and Currency Market Review: June 18, 2026
The financial markets are showing a mixed picture today, as precious metal prices record significant gains in the face of weakening in the oil and digital currency markets. As of 12:02, the BIST 100 index is trading around the 14,421-point level, a level defined by Borsa Haber Hisse as a critical area for monitoring.
BIST 100 Index Analysis
According to Borsa Haber Hisse, a channel focused on technical analysis of the Turkish stock exchange, "the weekly picture remains bullish." Analysts at the channel note that the 14,590-14,620 point level constitutes the main resistance level, and that a breakout above it will direct the index toward a target of 15,200 points. On the other hand, data from gdh and Borsa ve Kripto indicated relative stability in the index with no real change during trading.
Trends in Currencies, Gold, and Energy
Gold continues to attract interest with sharp gains. According to gdh, the price of a gram of gold climbed by 1.23% to 6,422 Turkish Lira, while global gold (ounce) rose by 0.97% to 4,297 dollars. Silver also recorded a similar rise of about 1.4%.
In the currency sector, the US Dollar is trading at 46.44 Turkish Lira, a slight increase of about 0.18%, a figure confirmed by the aggregate reports from Ekonomi Haberleri 🇹🇷. Conversely, a significant decline was recorded in Brent crude oil, which fell by about 2% to the 77-78 dollar per barrel range, and a decline of over 2% in the price of Bitcoin, which is trading around 64,000 dollars.
