[88296] North Korea downgrades relations with the UK in response to sanctions
Diplomatic crisis between Pyongyang and London
North Korea has announced a downgrade of its diplomatic relations with the UK, in response to London's decision to impose sanctions on a facility defined by the Kingdom as a "children's camp". According to a report by the latest Telegram channel (آخرین خبر), this step was manifested in the immediate recall of the North Korean ambassador to the UK, just one month after he assumed his post.
The report, which was also circulated by Fars channel (فارس بینالملل و سیاست خارجی), emphasizes that this is a sharp protest measure by the regime in Pyongyang. These media channels, which are identified with the official Iranian line, present the move as a direct response to what they call British "interference" in North Korea's internal affairs through the application of economic pressure and targeted sanctions.
North Korea's decision indicates growing tension between the isolated country and Western nations, as Pyongyang continues to adopt a line of rejecting international criticism regarding living conditions and rights in the country, especially concerning facilities defined by the West as controversial sites.
