During the last 24 hours, an unusual escalation was reported in the Odesa region, as according to local and media sources, Russia attempted to carry out an attack using unmanned surface vessels (maritime drones) against the city's coast. The Times of Ukraine channel emphasized that "vacationing by the sea has become dangerous" following the events.

The channel Дозвольте доповісти added commentary that the event is particularly concerning not only due to the danger to civilians, but because it indicates that "the enemy now has operational maritime drones" capable of carrying out complex attacks. Simultaneously, channels such as Україна Online and Оперативний ЗСУ reported powerful explosions heard at sea near the coastline.

Beyond the maritime theater in Odesa, the UA Stream network reported on a widespread wave of ballistic attacks that struck Kyiv and Poltava last night (June 18). According to the reports, air defense systems were activated across most of the districts in Ukraine due to warnings of missile and drone attacks.

It should be noted that the cited sources are mostly identified with the Ukrainian position supporting the war effort, while presenting Russia as the aggressor. While most of the channels reported the events as facts on the ground, the Фокус channel cautiously noted that "the Ukrainian command has not yet provided full details on the results and consequences of the attack."
