Minister Ben-Gvir appointed bereaved families as official inspectors under the Death Penalty Law

National Security Minister, MK Itamar Ben-Gvir, signed the appointments of six bereaved family members from the "Choosing Life" forum to the position of "official inspectors" under the Death Penalty for Terrorists Law. According to a report by NTD Hebrew News, the appointment grants them broad oversight authorities, which include visiting prisoners sentenced to death and supervising the implementation procedures of the law. Among those appointed are Herzl Hajaj and Boaz Kukia, who lost their children in terrorist attacks.

According to Minister Ben-Gvir, the goal of the move is to "restore deterrence to the State of Israel" and express recognition of the pain of terror victims while making them partners in the fight for justice. Herzl Hajaj, on behalf of the families, welcomed the change in incarceration policy and noted that this is a mission intended to ensure that terrorists serve their sentences under minimal conditions only.
