[86897] Preliminary agreement between the U.S. and Iran: An end to the war and a promise to prevent nuclear weapons
Donald Trump announced an understanding with Iran to stop the fighting, prevent nuclear weapons, and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Historic understanding agreement between Washington and Tehran: Multi-front ceasefire
After months of fighting, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Iran to end the war. According to reports by Vahid Online, the agreement is expected to lead to an immediate ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, clarified that this agreement includes the cessation of fighting in Lebanon, and that any violation by Israel will be considered a breach of the agreement by the U.S.
Details of the agreement and disputes
Sources cited in Iran International and Reuters point to the establishment of a $300 billion private investment fund for the rehabilitation of the Iranian economy, financed by international corporations. Conversely, Donald Trump rejected the reports of direct fund transfers from the U.S. on Truth Social, calling them "fake news." The American administration, in the words of Vice President J.D. Vance, emphasized that any economic aid is conditional on Tehran's full compliance with its obligations, and that the ultimate goal is preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Criticism and opposing voices
While the Iranian leadership presents the agreement as a diplomatic victory, elements within the Iranian opposition have expressed sharp opposition. Prince Reza Pahlavi stated that an agreement with the current regime is a "strategic mistake" intended to ensure its survival. At the same time, officials in the Israeli political echelon as well as in the American intelligence community (according to Axios) have expressed concern that Iran does not truly intend to give up its nuclear program.
Developments on the ground
Despite the announcement of the ceasefire, Vahid Online and Ye_DaneshAmoz reported dozens of ceasefire violations in southern Lebanon, which led to threats from the 'Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters' of a harsh military response. Trump himself spoke sharply against Israel regarding the fighting in Beirut, stating that "one should not use the destruction of a residential tower to eliminate one person."
