Military escalation in Southern Lebanon: Battles around Nabatieh

On June 17, 2026, a significant escalation was reported in southern Lebanon. According to Al Jazeera, IDF forces carried out heavy artillery shelling on the slopes of Ali al-Taher and the vicinity of the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa. At the same time, Quds News Network reported intense flights by the Israeli Air Force over the skies of southern Lebanon.

Conversely, Al Mayadeen, which is affiliated with the Axis of Resistance, reported rocket barrages launched toward "concentrations of occupation forces attempting to advance" in the Kfar Tebnit area. The Telegram channel [[[Southern Lebanon]] Enemy Observer](https://t.me/rasedal3ado138e), which presents a staunchly hostile stance toward Israel and identifies with the armed struggle, noted that "the resistance launched 10 missiles at the occupation forces" in the suburbs of Kfar Tebnit, and that additional strike sorties were documented at Jabal al-Rafi in the Iqlim al-Tuffah region.

Journalist Hussein Mortada added that these were "large rocket barrages" fired at Israeli groups in the Nabatieh area. Channels close to Hezbollah, such as Resistance Path, described the events as a "continuation of resistance operations against the enemy's infiltration zones."

Additional Lebanese sources, including Beirut Time, reported casualties among militia personnel as a result of Israeli strikes and noted that "Iran is threatening the occupation if it does not cease its attacks." The channel Nabatieh, Capital of Jabal Amel summarized the sequence of Israeli strikes on areas such as Kfar Joz, Kfar Rumman, Houmine, and Nabatieh, noting that a "sense of loss exceeding that experienced after the Second Lebanon War in 2006" prevails among the Israeli public.
