[86480] Daily Review: Economic and Geopolitical Developments Alongside Closure Threats to Digital Literature Channels
Updates from the International and Digital Arena (June 17, 2026)
Developments in Turkey and the International Arena
According to reports by the Sputnik Türkiye channel – a media outlet affiliated with Russian state positions that presents a critical perspective on Western policies – several key issues emerged today. Among other things, reports surfaced regarding the exposure of a "memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran" and an economic analysis concerning Iran's frozen assets worldwide.
On the local level in Turkey, Sputnik Türkiye notes interesting economic data: the number of couriers in the country has surged from 80,000 in 2019 to 1.2 million today, alongside academic achievements as 15 Turkish universities entered the list of the top 1,000 universities in the world.
Threats to Digital Libraries
At the same time, intense activity was recorded in the Sesli Edebiyat channel, which serves as a platform for distributing literature and educational materials. The channel published an urgent message to its subscribers stating that a "copyright notice" has been received, placing the channel at immediate risk of closure.
Following the message published on the channel, the project administrators are calling on users to join a series of backup channels on Telegram and a dedicated WhatsApp channel, in order to maintain access to content in the event of the main channel being blocked. The channel offers a vast repository of books and study materials in many languages and is asking the community to organize in advance to prevent disconnection.
