Controversial Birthday Wishes on Social Media
During the last 24 hours, two prominent posts on the social network X (Twitter) have sparked varied reactions from the public following an unusual choice of content in birthday wishes.
On the official channel bundeskanzler, identified with the German Chancellor's office, a belated 80th birthday greeting was published, which included content of a controversial historical nature. According to the report by bundeskanzler, the greeting included the message "After all, we're on the same team" alongside a sequence of letters that could be interpreted as a reference to Adolf Hitler, a move that drew widespread public criticism given the official nature of the account.
At the same time, a private user named DMitc0405 published a completely different post, in which they wished a happy birthday to someone they called "the GOAT president" – a nickname usually attributed to a person considered the best in their field. According to DMitc0405's words, this is a matter of personal admiration for the president, noting the fact that the user works for him in both governmental and non-governmental frameworks.
The gap between the two approaches – the controversial diplomatic-historical greeting on one hand, and the blatant admiration toward a political figure on the other – reflects the polarized climate on social media as of June 16, 2026.
