Sharp criticism in Turkey of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

The Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) in Turkey, Devlet Bahçeli, issued sharp criticism against the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), claiming it is not acting sufficiently for the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. According to the Daily Islamist channel, which is identified with conservative Islamic positions, Bahçeli clarified that "condemnations and gatherings that disperse without results are unacceptable," and called for a transition from the "condemnation stage" to a stage of "accountability, sanctions, and joint action."

Bahçeli questioned where the organization is while the situation on the ground intensifies. According to the gdh channel, which focuses on current affairs in Turkey, Bahçeli emphasized that if Jerusalem and Palestine were a central pillar in the founding of the organization, then settling for "sentences of condemnation" while Gaza burns is inexplicable. He posed pointed rhetorical questions about the essence of the organization's existence and the delays in taking a unified stand.

While Bahçeli noted that he does not ignore the existing diplomatic efforts, he stressed that "one cannot ignore calls for a ceasefire and the emphasis on humanitarian aid" as long as the reality on the ground remains difficult. The MHP leader demands tangibility in the decisions made regarding Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, arguing that the time has come for "concrete results" and not just empty statements.
