Turkey tightens international pressure for the extradition of FETÖ members

Marking a decade since the failed coup attempt on July 15, Turkish Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that the Turkish government has increased its diplomatic and legal activities to extradite members of the FETÖ (Fetullah Terrorist Organization). According to the Haber Gündem channel, the minister emphasized that all extradition files are being re-examined and that "new evidence is being sent again to the relevant countries" with the aim of bringing the organization's leadership to trial in Turkey.

According to data provided by the Sputnik Türkiye channel, Turkey has so far submitted 2,950 extradition requests to 119 different countries. The channel, which is identified with Russian pro-government positions that are often aligned with Ankara's official narrative, notes that the countries that received the highest number of requests are:

• Germany: 777 cases


• United States: 728 cases


• Belgium: 142 cases

The Turkish government continues to present this legal battle as a central component in maintaining national security ten years after the events of July 2016. Minister of Justice Tunç clarified that efforts to capture the "mastermind" behind the organization continue with determination, while updating legal files in accordance with cumulative evidence according to Haber Gündem.
