US and Iran approaching an agreement: Opening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the blockade

According to widespread reports in the Arab and international media, the US and Iran are close to signing an agreement aimed at ending the prolonged military conflict. According to Reuters agency as cited in Al-Sabah Iraqi Newspaper, the agreement includes the "immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the American blockade on Iran."

The Borsaforex information channel defines the move as a "peace agreement ending the 100-day war," and notes that President Donald Trump declared: "يا سفن العالم، شغّلوا محركاتكم.. فليتدفق النفط" (Ships of the world, start your engines.. let the oil flow). According to a report in Lebanon News, President Trump emphasized that the opening of the straits will take place on Friday, with the official signing.

Meanwhile, Iranian sources, including Tasnim agency cited by Al-Mayadeen channel, report that Iran refused Trump's initial demand to execute the opening of the straits and the lifting of the blockade simultaneously and immediately, and a compromise was reached whereby the process will begin after the official signing on Friday. A source in Hezbollah cited in Lebanon News claims that "Iran delayed the signing of the agreement to monitor Israel's commitment to the ceasefire in Lebanon."

International figures have responded to the move. French President Emmanuel Macron defined the agreement as a "most important step," while the President of the European Commission called for the immediate opening of the straits. The US administration confirmed that the military has received instructions to prepare for lifting the blockade, with a senior American official telling CNN that these steps are "contingent upon the signing of the agreement on Friday."
