The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced today, June 15, 2026, a series of successful arrests against espionage networks and sabotage of national infrastructure. According to the report, security forces arrested a resident of Chornomorsk, Odesa, who acted as an agent for the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). The suspect stayed at a hotel complex on the Kyiv Reservoir under the guise of a tourist, where she installed "video traps" - remote-access cameras designed to monitor Ukrainian air defense activity during missile attacks.

According to reports in Times of Ukraine, the agent was involved in directing one of the most massive attacks on the capital on May 24, 2026. 24 Kanal noted that three people were killed and over 90 were injured in that attack. The suspect was arrested "in the act" while attempting to set up a new observation point, and she now faces charges of high treason, which could lead to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

At the same time, the SBU reported the conviction of another Russian agent who attempted to carry out sabotage on the railway infrastructure in the Cherkasy region. The man attempted to destroy signal boxes to disrupt military and civilian logistics in the central Ukraine region. He was recruited through Telegram channels that promised "easy money" and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Ukrainian media outlets, including Censor.NET and ҐРУНТ, emphasized that these operations illustrate the relentless efforts of Russian intelligence to use recruited citizens for intelligence gathering and damaging critical infrastructure in Ukraine, especially in the capital region.
