Russian attack on World Heritage sites in Kyiv

During a widespread wave of Russian air strikes on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, heavy damage was reported to sites of global historical and cultural importance. According to the gdh channel, which is associated with reports from the Turkish scene, the Russian attack caused damage to the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

At the same time, the French Foreign Minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, strongly condemned the Russian action. According to the Askeri Operasyon Haberleri channel, which focuses on security and military reports, the French Foreign Minister stated that the attack caused heavy damage to the Saint Sophia Cathedral, another site registered with UNESCO.

The French minister compared the incident to the bombing of historical cathedrals in France such as Notre-Dame, and noted that this attests to the "cruelty" of Russia and the continuation of Vladimir Putin's colonial war, which, according to him, constitutes the "main obstacle to peace."
