The Iraqi Ministry of Communications announced today, June 15, 2026, a significant move to improve communications infrastructure in the country. According to reports on Telegram channels واحد عراق, Minister Mustafa Sanad confirmed that the internet speed via fiber optic cables will be increased immediately by 20%.
The National Internet Company (الوطني للإنترنت) clarified that the move will be implemented without any update to the prices of existing packages for subscribers. It was further noted that as part of the upgrade, a new minimum threshold for browsing speed has been set at (50Mbps).
The reports, which were circulated on a number of official and popular channels such as واحد عراق, emphasize that the implementation of the speed increase has already begun, as part of the Iraqi Ministry of Communications' efforts to improve the quality of digital service for residents.
