[83387] Geopolitical drama: US and Iran announced a ceasefire agreement mediated by Pakistan and Qatar
Surprising peace agreement between the US and Iran: A comprehensive ceasefire on all fronts
Numerous sources, led by Al Jazeera and Wahat Al-Iraq, are reporting that an official peace agreement has been reached between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, following "intensive talks." According to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, who was involved in the mediation, the parties have announced an "immediate and permanent end to military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon." The official signing ceremony is expected to be held this coming Friday in Switzerland.
American President Donald Trump confirmed the completion of the agreement and stated that he ordered an "immediate removal of the American naval blockade on Iran" and the free opening of the Strait of Hormuz to trade without tariffs. Trump added that the agreement includes an Iranian commitment not to obtain nuclear weapons. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the move, noting that it is an "important step for strengthening peace and economic growth in the region."
On the other hand, media outlets identified with the "Axis of Resistance," such as Al Mayadeen, emphasized that the US was "forced to sign an agreement to end the war" thanks to the steadfastness of the Iranian-aligned forces. The Iranian 'Mehr' Agency published a 14-point outline that includes, among other things, a US commitment to withdraw from the vicinity of Iran, the release of frozen assets totaling billions of dollars, and reconstruction plans of at least 300 billion dollars. Official sources in Tehran clarified that final negotiations will be conditioned on the fulfillment of American commitments.
Meanwhile, Trump harshly criticized Israel following the strike in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut, which occurred concurrently with the contacts. According to him, this strike "should not have happened," and he conveyed a sharp message to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, demanding that all parties – including Hezbollah and Israel – cease all mutual attacks. Media outlets in Israel, as reported in Maariv, described the situation as a "heavy price for the partnership with Trump" and noted the concern that Israel has been left isolated in the face of the new reality.
