[83178] Sunday marine transit in the Strait of Hormuz under the Iranian route
Traffic in the Strait of Hormuz resumes on an Iranian route
Against the backdrop of regional tensions, Telegram channels reported the resumption of tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. The Middle East Spectator, known for its critical stance on Western and Middle Eastern policies, noted that this is the first ship to cross the strait in the last 48 hours, as it made use of the "designated route of the IRGC" (Revolutionary Guard Corps).
The report was confirmed by the channel Geopolitics Watch, which consistently criticizes Iran and the current administration, and reported that the Indian tanker "Disha," carrying a cargo of liquefied natural gas from Qatar, passed near Larak Island as part of the Iranian route. This is the first transit to take place following an announcement regarding a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the region.
The event indicates a significant change in the control of strategic shipping lanes in the Persian Gulf, as international actors begin to adapt to Iran's new guidelines regarding sailing routes.
