Extensive disruptions to the transport system in Kyiv following damage to infrastructure
This morning, June 15, 2026, the capital of Ukraine experienced significant disruptions to its public transport system following damage to the city's infrastructure. The Telegram channel Реальний Київ | Украина, identified with local field reports, stated that due to damage to the power grid and the implementation of traffic restrictions, many tram and bus lines are operating on a limited schedule or have had their routes altered.
According to the report, tram lines 12 and 19 have been limited to shorter routes, and line 17 has been temporarily replaced by a bus service. Additionally, there have been changes to the routes of trolleybus lines (6, 18, 32, 33, 38, 28, 31) and bus lines (24, 25), with some being shortened or diverted to alternative routes.
At the same time, authorities have imposed traffic blockades on major roads throughout the city. The channel Реальний Київ | Украина and the channel ✙ Київ Оперативний | Kyiv Operative ✙ both reported full closures of a number of streets and major intersections, including Brati Zerovikh Street, Berezhanska Street, as well as major intersections such as the junction of Tsitadelna Street and Ivan Mazepa Street.
The report from Kyiv Operative emphasized that these are necessary precautionary measures for road users. At this stage, the directive to the city's residents is to plan their travel routes in advance, taking into account congestion and the sudden changes following "hostile shelling" of civilian infrastructure.
