[82398] Netanyahu to Trump: Israel will not withdraw from Lebanon and Syria
Political tension: Netanyahu clarifies to Trump that Israel will remain in Lebanon and Syria
According to reports in the 'Maariv' newspaper, which received wide echo on various Telegram channels, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clarified in a phone call to United States President Donald Trump that Israel does not consider itself committed to the Lebanon clause in the US-Iran agreement. According to Netanyahu, IDF forces will not withdraw from southern Lebanon.
In additional reports, including on TabZ - Alternative Media, it was noted that the resistance to withdrawal includes five key points that currently control the area. Beyond the Lebanese arena, Netanyahu clarified that Israel will not agree to a withdrawal from territories in Syria that were captured after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime.
The report sparked diverse reactions in the alternative media and the international arena:
- Middle East Spectator and DD Geopolitics, entities that often demonstrate a critical line toward Israel and the West, presented the move as undermining the MoU agreement between the US and Iran.
- Conversely, Amir Tsarfati, who is identified with supporting the government's position, emphasized the Israeli determination in the face of American pressure.
- The Iranian channel شبنامه chose to highlight the Israeli refusal as part of the continuation of military involvement in the region.
Jewish Truth Archive noted in this context that the confrontation surrounding the Lebanon clause stems from a broader agreement announced at the initiative of Pakistan, which adds a layer of diplomatic complexity to Netanyahu's move.
