[80834] Home Front Command Updates: Extension of sheltering times in the north and easing of activity policy
The Home Front Command has updated the sheltering times to 90 seconds in 161 localities in the north and published easing of the activity policy in selected localities.
Updates to the sheltering policy in the north of the country
Following situational assessments and a professional process that included technological and operational adjustments, the IDF Spokesperson announced the extension of the sheltering time from 60 to 90 seconds in 161 localities in the north of the country, including Haifa, the Krayot, and the Carmel. The Home Front Command commander noted that this is an effort for "learning, drawing lessons, and improving the response to the citizen, as part of the understanding that extending sheltering times may save lives." The instruction came into effect on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 16:00.
At the same time, the Home Front Command published an update to the sheltering policy that is valid until Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 20:00. According to reports on Hadashot MeHashetach on Telegram, the confrontation line area and several additional localities (among them Meron, Beit Jann, and Kisra-Sumei) moved to a "partial activity" tier. In this tier, educational activities and workplaces may be held only in buildings that allow access to a standard protected space, while limiting gatherings to 100 people in an open area and 400 in a building.
Conversely, there was a significant easing in the Upper Galilee, Northern Golan, Katzrin, and Kidmat Tzvi areas, which moved to a "full activity" tier without restrictions. The reports on the changes were widely distributed in media outlets and many Telegram channels, among them NTD Hebrew News, 301 News Arab World, and Dafna Liel, with everyone relying on official IDF Spokesperson announcements.
It should be noted that while the reports on the instructions were uniform in the main sources, some channels like GLOBAL ANALYST presented a more critical tone regarding the security and political situation compared to official channels, but all were unified around the technical publication of the new sheltering instructions.
