A severe Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital has claimed the lives of five people and left dozens injured, including children, according to officials in Kyiv.

On June 2, 2026, the capital of Ukraine experienced a severe air attack that led to loss of life. The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, provided an update on the official Kyiv City State Administration (KMDA) channel that the death toll had risen to five, after one of the injured who had been taken to the hospital died of their wounds.
The Kyiv City Telegram channel reported earlier on 58 casualties as a result of the strikes throughout the capital, of whom 40 were injured and evacuated by medical teams, including two children. Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed throughout the day the gradual increase in the number of casualties as rescue operations and medical treatment continued.
The TSN news channel, known for its pro-Ukrainian stance and criticism of Russia and Putin, emphasized the severity of the event and reported on the difficult situation in the capital. In its publications, the channel maintained that the attack is part of Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine.
The UA Stream channel summarized the official reports, noting that this is a direct result of a "Russian strike" on the city. All reports followed the updates of Mayor Klitschko, who provided dynamic data throughout the day on the status of the injured and dead at the scene.
