Military escalation in Southern Lebanon

On June 2, 2026, intense fighting was reported in Southern Lebanon. According to Al Jazeera and other sources, including Quds News Network and Shehab Agency, Hezbollah claimed its fighters destroyed a third Merkava tank in the "Al-Bulu'" area during an Israeli invasion attempt towards the town of Haddatha. Al-Mayadeen reported that the fighters "continued to confront Israeli forces" and used direct missiles to destroy the tanks.

Simultaneously, Sputnik Arabic reported that the Israeli army confirmed the interception of two missiles launched from Lebanon toward the Upper Galilee, and that exchanges of fire continue. Sources affiliated with the resistance, as published in Nabatieh Hadrat Jabal Amel, detailed a series of operations against troop concentrations and armored vehicles, using "Ababil" suicide drones and rockets.

On the other side, Lebanon News Now reported a series of intense Israeli airstrikes, including in Nabatieh, Kfar Remman, Toul, Al-Haniyeh, Kfar Sir, and Khirbet Selm. According to reports, there was one fatality as a result of the strikes in Toul. Additionally, footage was published showing the movement of unmanned aerial vehicles over various areas in Lebanon, including Burj al-Barajneh and Al-Hadath.

Meanwhile, conflicting reports were published on Al-Youm Channel regarding the possibility of Hezbollah agreeing to an American ceasefire framework, ahead of another round of talks. However, the situation on the ground remains characterized by fierce fighting and mutual accusations of ceasefire violations.
