Reports of alerts regarding a massive Russian attack in Ukraine are raising tension, against the backdrop of clarifications that these are warnings from a previous interview by President Zelensky.
Ukraine on high alert: Fear of a Russian air attack
In the last 24 hours, social networks in Ukraine have been flooded with reports of an expected massive air attack. Several channels, including ЦАПЛІЄНКО_UKRAINE FIGHTS and Оперативний ЗСУ, reported based on the words of President Volodymyr Zelensky that "a massive air attack is expected tonight or tomorrow night." According to Оперативний ЗСУ, which is identified with a clearly pro-Ukrainian stance, the threat level remains high due to the assessment that Moscow has postponed its strikes.
However, a wave of updates (UPD) appeared in many sources in order to clarify the chronological context of the statements. Channels such as Київ Головне, Всевидящее ОКО, and Новини.LIVE emphasized that Zelensky's quotes were taken from an interview he gave to the CBS network back on May 29th. The channel Новини.LIVE even apologized for the inaccuracy in the original publication and clarified that this was information that had already been published.
Despite the corrections regarding the date of the interview, most local sources are sticking to the call for vigilance. The channel Терміново❗️ called on citizens to "respond to every alarm," and the channel 🇺🇦УКРАЇНА⚡️Новини ⚡️Політика concluded that despite the original timing of the interview, "everything indicates that Russia has postponed the attack, so one must remain cautious."
At the same time, additional reports point to ongoing tension in other sectors, as UA Stream reported on IAEA demands for access to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and other incidents that marked the night of May 31st.
