[79321] Lebanese President Joseph Aoun: 'Negotiations are the only solution to stop the war'
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that negotiations with Israel are the safest way to end the war, stressing that there is no escape from continuing the diplomatic process despite the difficulties.
In a series of statements released throughout the day, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun emphasized his commitment to the path of diplomatic negotiations as the only way to stop the fighting. According to Al Jazeera, Aoun clarified that "negotiations are safer than war," noting that although this process does not solve problems immediately, it represents the only option available to the country.
In reports that appeared on Al Mayadeen, which is affiliated with the Axis of Resistance, President Aoun rejected claims that negotiations constitute a surrender or concession. According to him, it is a "solution to stop wars with the minimum possible damage." The President added that the Lebanese leadership is doing everything in its power, and that the negotiations are progressing despite delays and difficulties in reaching the goals.
On the technical side of the agreements, it was claimed in Sonar Media Center and Al Araby TV that Israel is violating the ceasefire understandings. Aoun accused Israel of "continuing its military operations and bombing villages under the pretext of self-defense," and claimed that Israel has yet to vacate the five points it occupied, as required by the agreement. The media affiliated with the resistance emphasized in this context the criticism toward Aoun for continuing to adhere to the diplomatic path against "the Zionist enemy" despite what they defined as an ongoing "massacre" on the ground.
