[78462] Russian airline 'Aeroflot' resumes flights to Dubai after a three-month break
Return to Gulf skies: Aeroflot resumes flights to Moscow
Starting June 1, 2026, Russia's national airline, Aeroflot, resumed its regular flights between Moscow and Dubai, following a hiatus of nearly three months. According to RBC, flights were suspended in March due to the "escalation in the Middle East." The first flight departed from Sheremetyevo Airport on the morning of June 1 on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with "almost full commercial occupancy," as noted in reports by Vedomosti.
According to publications in Moscow News and Moskvach, the company is planning a phased schedule: during the month of June, single daily flights will be operated, while starting July 1, the flight frequency will be doubled to two per day. TravelRadar cynically noted that "the price of the tickets is something not recommended for the faint of heart to see."
Alongside the announcement of the resumption of flights, Russian sources are presenting a complex position. On the ranarod channel, which presents a position that mixes criticism of official policy, it was clarified that despite the airline's decision, the Russian Ministry of Economy "continues to recommend avoiding flights to Middle Eastern countries, including the United Arab Emirates," and that restrictions on the sale of travel packages to the region remain in effect.
State media channels and those identified with the Russian establishment, such as Раньше всех and Izvestia, emphasized the success of the first flight and the fact that the planes will be operated in a two-class configuration (business and economy), while almost completely ignoring the government recommendations to avoid travel to the region, in contrast to the line taken by more independent channels.
