Cyberattack against the White House Instagram account
On June 1, 2026, a hack was reported on the White House Instagram account from the presidency of Barack Obama. According to Akharin Khabar, which is identified with pro-Iranian positions, the hackers published photos of Qasem Soleimani and uploaded a message stating that "the White House is under Shiite control."
In a parallel report by Saberin News, a channel identified with Shiite militias, it was claimed that as part of the hack, the profile picture and posts were changed to images associated with the figure of Imam Ali. In addition, the channel reported that photos of Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were uploaded to the account's story according to Saberin News.
Meta, the parent company of Instagram, confirmed the hack. In an official statement quoted by Saberin News, the company stated that the account in question underwent a re-securing process and that all offensive content uploaded by the hackers was removed from the platform.
As of this time, official sources in the United States have yet to provide an official response regarding the details of the incident or the identity of those responsible for the cyber operation, according to reports by Akharin Khabar.
