Military escalation in southern Lebanon
Throughout the day (May 31, 2026), Arabic media reported on an extensive and intensive wave of airstrikes by the Israeli Air Force in southern Lebanon. According to Al Jazeera, which is identified with a critical stance toward Israel, the strikes focused on numerous locations, including the city of Tyre, where a series of repeated strikes were reported throughout the day, as well as in the towns of Al-Zrarieh, Ansar, Al-Babliyeh, Khirbet al-Duwayr, and Dibbine, where the channel reported that IDF forces demolished houses.
At the same time, Al Mayadeen, a network identified with the Axis of Resistance, reported extensively on what it defined as "Israeli aggression." According to the reports, targets were struck in the Tyre District, the Nabatieh District, and the Ali al-Taher area. Al Mayadeen noted that strikes were also carried out using unmanned aerial vehicles on the town of Al-Qusaybah.
A report published by Anadolu Agency cited Lebanese sources stating that there are "dead and wounded" as a result of strikes in the town of Deir al-Zahrani, with rescue forces working to recover bodies from the rubble of the buildings. Quds News Network added that the strikes were accompanied by artillery fire toward various towns in the south of the country.
Conversely, Al Mayadeen reported rocket fire from Lebanon toward communities in the Western Galilee, as well as the launching of "heavy rocket barrages" toward Acre and the Haifa Bay area, as part of the fighting response in the region.
