The city of Ashkelon mourns the fall of Staff Sergeant Michael Tyukin, a fighter in the Givati Reconnaissance unit (846), who fell yesterday (Saturday) in the battle for the defense of the homeland in southern Lebanon. Tyukin, aged 19 at his passing, immigrated to Israel from Ukraine in 2020 and was an only child to his mother, according to the Ziv Rubinstein channel - until the war ends.

The Mayor of Ashkelon, Tomer Glam, eulogized the fighter: "The heart is broken and the entire city of Ashkelon mourns and aches over the fall of Staff Sergeant Michael Tyukin." Tyukin's funeral will be held tomorrow, Monday, June 1, 2026, at 17:00 at the Givat Zion cemetery in Ashkelon. According to the Hot News channel, which identifies with a position supporting municipal commemoration efforts, the Ashkelon municipality will organize a human chain of flags by teenagers along the road leading to the cemetery, to pay final respects to the fighter.

The family and the municipality have appealed to the public to come and honor Michael's memory on his final journey.
