Civil initiatives for the rehabilitation of combatants: new campaigns to support wounded IDF soldiers
Against the backdrop of the ongoing war, two significant civil initiatives have emerged in recent days with the goal of providing a dedicated response for wounded combatants dealing with complex rehabilitation challenges.
On the channel Ziv Rubinstein - Until the war ends, founder Afik Nissim presents the "Winning Pass" (Masira Menatzechet) project. According to Nissim, in a message published on the channel, the initiative assists combatants dealing with PTSD through basketball activities and training. Nissim notes that they meet "combatants who are in very low functioning states," for whom the project serves as a "lifeline" that restores their confidence and social belonging. The organization has launched a crowdfunding campaign with the goal of expanding the activity to additional groups.
At the same time, News Line reports on an initiative to improve the treatment of wounded soldiers in Judea and Samaria. Gilad, a wounded combatant himself, notes that during his rehabilitation he discovered that "wounded soldiers have no place to rest, relax, and receive support" in their area of residence, which forces them to travel to the center or the north. According to News Line, the "Otz LaGibor" (Strength for the Hero) house was established in Ariel, which provides a response to 167 wounded soldiers. The organization has issued a call to the public to donate 18 NIS per month to continue operating the house and to provide a response to hundreds of additional wounded soldiers who are waiting for assistance.
Both initiatives highlight the need for continuous civil support to bridge the gaps in existing rehabilitation systems for the combatants who have returned from the battles.
