According to reports in Al Jazeera based on the "Axios" website, American officials claim that an agreement has been reached on a 60-day memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. The agreement is expected to include the extension of the ceasefire, the opening of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program, and an Iranian commitment to cease any attempt to obtain nuclear weapons. According to Axios, Al-Mayadeen channel, which is affiliated with the Axis of Resistance, confirmed the existence of contact for "extending the ceasefire for 60 days."

However, it appears that the deal has not yet received the final approval of President Donald Trump. According to Vice President J.D. Vance, "it is difficult to determine an exact date when the President will sign the memorandum of understanding." Vance added that indeed "we have made great progress in the negotiations," but emphasized that there are still disputes regarding issues of "enrichment and stockpiles of enriched uranium."

The technical details of the memorandum, as published in Al Jazeera, include making shipping in the Strait of Hormuz "unrestricted" and exempt from payment, alongside an Iranian commitment to clear mines from the strait within 30 days. On the other hand, American officials cited in the New York Times emphasized that "the American blockade will remain in place" and will be eased gradually only in parallel with the return of shipping traffic to pre-war levels.

In parallel with the American reports, Anadolu Agency reports that official Iranian media outlets denied the reports of reaching any agreement with Washington. The situation remains tense, with officials in the American administration noting that Trump asked for "a few days to think about the matter" before making a final decision.
