Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has appealed in an official letter to EU leaders demanding increased border security and stronger coordination between member states in response to the Ebola outbreak in Africa. According to a report by Sputnik Türkiye, a news agency aligned with Russian government positions that often adopts a critical line toward Western policy, the Rome government has already begun implementing "additional health measures for passengers arriving from areas affected by the outbreak."
In addition to monitoring steps, Italy is preparing to send expert teams and medical aid to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Meloni noted that Italy intends to bring the issue to the agenda of the European Council meeting scheduled for this coming June, calling on other countries to act in a coordinated manner in the face of the developing health threat.
