Escalation in Southern Lebanon: A Wave of Airstrikes by the Israeli Air Force
Throughout the day (May 29, 2026), a significant escalation in the activity of the Israeli Air Force in southern Lebanon was reported. According to the Telegram channel Son Dakika Haberler Gündem, Israeli fighter jets struck the town of Baysarieh in the south of the country. At the same time, the channel Sputnik Türkiye – a Russian state-funded media outlet with an editorial line critical of Israel – reported an additional strike in the village of Tabit.
According to data from Sputnik Türkiye, on the second day of Eid al-Adha, the IDF carried out 108 strikes across Lebanon. According to the report, "a total of 28 people were killed, including women, children, and military personnel, and 42 were wounded." The report notes that the strikes were directed against homes, businesses, and a mosque in the areas of Nabatieh, Tyre, and Sidon (Sayda).
It is important to note that the Turkish sources, including Askeri Operasyon Haberleri, focus on reports regarding Israeli military activity from the angle of civilian and strategic damage. These media outlets tend to cover the conflict from a perspective that highlights the casualties of the strikes and the damage to infrastructure in Lebanon, in accordance with their editorial line which is often identified with narrative support for the Lebanese or Palestinian side in the conflicts with Israel.
