Reform of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI)
The Ukrainian government, led by First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, has announced its intention to submit a new bill to parliament (the Rada) regarding the activities of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). According to reports, the scheduled deadline for submitting the law is December 2026.
According to UA Stream, Svyrydenko clarified that the timelines might be shortened if the government reaches early agreements with the European Union and the relevant parliamentary committee. In such a case, the law could potentially be brought for discussion even before the scheduled date.
The channel Лачен пише, which is identified with positions supporting the Zelensky administration and the fight against corruption, welcomed Svyrydenko's initiative and called it a "very good initiative." However, the author at Лачен пише expressed sharp reservations regarding the current personnel at the organization and called for ending Udovychenko's term immediately, arguing that he cannot remain in his position until December.
