Changes in recruitment policy: Businesses are required to re-verify their status
Ukraine's Minister of Economy, Soboliev, announced today, May 29, 2026, a new and stricter directive regarding recruitment exemptions for workers in the economy. According to reports, all enterprises and businesses in the country must re-verify their definition as "critical" (critical infrastructure) by this coming September 1st.
On the channel Всевидящее ОКО: Україна, which is identified with pro-Ukrainian positions, it was noted that failure to meet the new schedules will lead to the immediate cancellation of the exemption ("bronirovaniya") currently enjoyed by men employed in those organizations.
A similar report appeared on the channel Новини: Україна | Головний | Політика, which reports on domestic affairs and politics. According to this channel, the measure is intended to re-regulate the scope of those recruited and to examine whether businesses defined as critical actually meet current government criteria.
As of this moment, the decision is causing concern among employers in various sectors, as the loss of "critical" status means immediate exposure of personnel to recruitment into the army, which could affect the continuity of business operations in the Ukrainian economy during the war.
