An extreme weather system has been hitting Ukraine in recent days, bringing with it thunderstorms, hail, and gale-force winds. According to reports from Україна Online, the situation in the country is described as "hell," with significant damage recorded in various cities. In Kryvyi Rih, it was reported that a gale-force wind uprooted a roof which flew off and struck several vehicles.

Severe disruptions were recorded throughout the country. The 24 Канал channel noted that a tornado was documented over residential areas in Ivano-Frankivsk, while in the Khmelnytskyi and Cherkasy regions, roads were blocked due to trees that collapsed because of the strong winds. The БРАТЧУК channel emphasized that security forces had to operate on the ground to clear blocked thoroughfares.

The capital, Kyiv, did not escape the storm either. Київ | Times reported on a tree that fell onto a local gymnasium building and shattered windows, and recommended that residents remove objects from balconies for fear of collapse. The meteorological standard in the country was raised to a "yellow risk" level following the intensity of the precipitation.

The near-term forecast predicts a further deterioration in temperatures. Політика.ua reports that a cold front is expected to arrive on May 28, which will lower temperatures to the range of 12 to 18 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country. Experts define the weather as being influenced by cold air masses arriving from Scandinavia, which gives Ukraine a particularly wintry feeling at the end of May, contrary to early seasonal expectations.
