[72591] Escalation on the Northern Border: Heavy Clashes in Southern Lebanon Fighting
Reports of intense battles in Blat Zoutar el-Sharqiya and increased activity by Hezbollah against IDF forces, citing ceasefire violations.
On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, a significant escalation in the fighting in Southern Lebanon was reported. Media outlets identified with the Axis of Resistance, led by Military Media - News Coverage, reported a series of extensive attacks carried out by the organization's operatives under the title "Battle of the Eaten Tree" (system of the eaten grass). According to the reports, the attacks were carried out "in response to the Israeli enemy's violation of the ceasefire" and in response to deaths and injuries among civilians in Southern Lebanon.
The main focus of the fighting was reported in Blat Zoutar el-Sharqiya. According to Military Media, the organization's fighters conducted "zero-range battles" with IDF forces near the cultural complex in the village, using light and medium weaponry, and forced the forces to retreat. Later in the day, the use of "Ababil"-type UAVs was reported, which, according to the sources, hit two Merkava tanks and engineering equipment. Al-Mayadeen Network, known for its supportive stance toward the "Axis of Resistance," extensively quoted the organization's announcements regarding successes in attacks against troop concentrations and armored vehicles.
In addition to Zoutar el-Sharqiya, attacks were reported in other locations along the border. Al-Mayadeen Network reported the launching of rocket barrages toward an "artillery battery that was renewed" by the IDF in the town of Al-Adisa. Additionally, the Telegram channel [[Southern Lebanon] Watching the Enemy](https://t.me/rasedal3ado138e) documented a series of hits on military equipment and tents where soldiers were staying in Naqoura and Rab El Thalathine, while using language glorifying the "heroism of the fighters" and sharp criticism of "Israeli aggression."
During the day, the organization published a correction to announcement number (2) regarding the exact location of the forces' engagement in Zoutar el-Sharqiya, which sparked interpretations among Lebanese Telegram channels regarding the tactical significance of the change in phrasing. Al-Mayadeen Network emphasized in its reports that "the resistance is committed to defending its land and people" as part of a broader campaign against what they call the "dangerous goals of the enemy against the state of Lebanon."
