[72633] Series of mutual attacks between Russia and Ukraine: military and energy targets under fire
Escalation in combat: a wave of comprehensive mutual attacks between Russia and Ukraine
In the last 24 hours, there has been a sharp escalation in the fighting between Russia and Ukraine, as both sides carried out large-scale attacks using drones and missiles against strategic infrastructure, military facilities, and arms factories. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian forces attacked defense industry factories and Ukrainian energy facilities, while reporting the capture of the settlements of Hraniv in the Kharkiv region and Vozdvyzhivka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Conversely, Russia sustained a comprehensive wave of attacks. As reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense systems intercepted 140 drones over eight Russian regions and the territory of the Crimean Peninsula. In Taganrog, according to the Baza channel, an aircraft repair plant was hit, and two women were wounded. Similar reports of explosions and fires were also recorded in Voronezh (near the "Baltimor" military airfield) and in Tuapse, where an oil terminal and an oil refinery were attacked—an attack described by the ASTRA channel as the fifth of its kind since the beginning of spring.
In Sevastopol, air defense forces reported the interception of over 20 drones and "Storm Shadow" missiles. Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev noted that missiles hit the building of the Central Bank administration and an administrative building in the Gogol district. At the same time, sources in Ukraine, including the NEXTA Live channel, reported additional Russian attacks in the Sumy, Chernihiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions, using "Kinzhal" type missiles.
On the political front, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy formally appealed to Donald Trump with a request to increase the supply of "Patriot" air defense systems and missiles for them, against the backdrop of what was described as a depletion in supplies and assessments that Russia is stockpiling ballistic missiles ahead of further moves. On the other hand, the Russian representative to the OSCE, Alexander Polyansky, warned that the West is approaching a direct confrontation with Russia, and argued that Moscow has every justification to attack facilities for producing Western drones if they are established on Ukrainian soil.
