Drone attack on the city of Konotop

During the evening hours of May 22, the city of Konotop in the Sumy region was attacked by Russian "Shahed" drones. According to the Censor.NET Telegram channel, known for its focused coverage of the fighting and security scene in Ukraine, the first explosion was heard around 21:30, when drones were recorded passing at high altitude over the area.

According to a report by the Operativny ZSU channel, which deals with current updates from the front and the headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the attack led to a "significant deterioration in air quality" in the city. The mayor, Artem Semenikhin, reported a sharp smell of burning in the air and instructed residents to close windows and avoid leaving their homes unnecessarily.

According to the information accumulated on Censor.NET, most of the aerial vehicles were shot down by air defense systems, while those that were not hit or were not intended for targets in the area continued their movement towards the direction of Bakhmut. Local authorities are currently continuing to assess the damage caused as a result of the attack.
