[69533] Fear of power outages in the summer: expert forecasts and the state of the power grid throughout Ukraine
The energy situation in Ukraine: forecasts and disruptions
Today, May 21, 2026, Ukraine is facing growing uncertainty surrounding the regular power supply. While certain regions are experiencing disruptions due to infrastructure work and weather conditions, experts are warning of more complex scenarios in the coming summer months.
Alerts on local power outages
In the center of the country, Реальна Війна | Україна | Новини, which is identified with a position supporting the Zelensky administration, reports that Kyiv residents are required to "charge their gadgets" due to planned power outages caused by "the consequences of severe weather". At the same time, local authorities in Odesa and Dnipro are updating on short-term disruptions: Суспільне Одеса and Кореспондент Одеси reported on planned outages in the Odesa and Chornomorsk area, while Суспільне Дніпро notes that outages in parts of Dnipro, Zhovti Vody, and Vilnohirsk stem from "planned repair work".
Summer forecast: fear of heat loads
Looking to the future, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, former head of the "Ukrenergo" company, warns that the system could reach its limit. As reported in Всевидящее ОКО: Україна and НУ І ДНІПРО! 🇺🇦, "if there is a heatwave of 35 degrees Celsius" for several weeks, planned power outages will be felt.
According to the analysis by "Всевидящее ОКО", which presents a line emphasizing the national struggle, there is a possibility of getting through the summer without any outages at all, provided that a prolonged heatwave is avoided and that Russia ceases attacking the country's energy infrastructure.
