Ukrainian law enforcement authorities have uncovered an extensive corruption network among senior police officials, coinciding with a dramatic tightening of security measures in five northern districts of the country.

The Ukrainian security system is dealing with two major events today (May 21, 2026). According to a report by Новини.LIVE, a large-scale criminal network involving "porn offices" under police protection has been uncovered. It is suspected that senior police officials in the Zhytomyr, Ternopil, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions received monthly bribes totaling tens of thousands of dollars in exchange for protecting the illegal activities. The report notes that one of the detainees is an intermediary close to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and that this is a "comprehensive operation to clean up the police system."
In response to these revelations, the Chief of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, ordered the initiation of "comprehensive inspections" in those regions, as published on Труха⚡️Україна. These inspections, led by top command, are intended to evaluate the "effectiveness of management decisions, service discipline, and corruption prevention," as reported on Цензор.НЕТ.
At the same time, a large-scale security operation was announced in five districts in the north of the country: Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Volyn, and Rivne. According to Оперативний ЗСУ, the goal of the operation is the "prevention of enemy infiltration into border areas" and the thwarting of sabotage and espionage activities. Security authorities, including the SBU and the police, will conduct strict checks of documents, vehicles, and private areas.
In Times of Ukraine, they emphasized that residents are required to carry identification documents at all times, and noted that there may be traffic restrictions in certain cities and settlements. On the UA Stream channel, they added that the decision to tighten security also comes against the backdrop of Russian and Belarusian military maneuvers near the borders, which increases security vigilance in the region.
