IDF establishes the "Alumot" unit to upgrade artificial intelligence capabilities

The IDF has officially announced the establishment of the "Alumot" unit, a new technological-operational hub operating under the J6 and Cyber Defense Directorate. The unit was established with the goal of developing and providing advanced information processing platforms and artificial intelligence capabilities directly to combat forces on the battlefield, as part of the effort to improve real-time decision-making capabilities.

According to a report by Hadashot MeHashetach on Telegram (known for a line identified with right-wing positions and criticism of the political echelon), the head of the J6 and Cyber Defense Directorate, Maj. Gen. Aviad Dagan, emphasized that the unit's goal is to "develop and provide the information and artificial intelligence capabilities we possess to the soldiers at the edge."

The unit's establishment ceremony was held yesterday (Wednesday) at the Gideonim base, with the participation of senior officials from the J6 and Cyber Defense Directorate and the commanders' forum. As reported in NTD Hebrew News and Dr. Amir Bohbot's Telegram channel, the unit is being established against the backdrop of changing security challenges and the growing operational need to provide a technological response tailored to the needs of combat in the field.
