[69482] Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs: Advancing a response to drones and formulating the Draft Law
Cabinet Secretary Updates: Security and Legislation
In a series of statements provided today (21.5.2026) by Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs, the latter addressed two burning issues on the public agenda: the drone threat from the north and the progress of the Draft Law legislation.
The security campaign against Lebanon
Regarding the security situation, Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs noted that the government is working on a technological or operational solution to the drone threat. According to him, as reported in 🎗️Israel News IL🎗️ and Zirat HaHadashot, "We are working on a much more significant response to the drone threat in Lebanon. This matter is in full swing."
Progress on the Draft Law
On the political level, Fuchs expressed cautious optimism regarding the passing of the Draft Law. According to reports in Zirat HaHadashot and News in Real Time, the Cabinet Secretary clarified that "the gaps are small and the law will pass," emphasizing that the remaining disagreement concerns only the method of implementation.
Fuchs added in an interview with Reshet Bet, as quoted in News in Real Time, that there is broad agreement among all parties on the basic need for "increasing the number of soldiers," a figure that constitutes the heart of the dispute and the emerging solution in the issue of equality in burden.
